The 2025 Belleek Classic Giants Causeway Annual Ornament is a limited edition, hand-painted porcelain ornament that depicts the iconic hexagonal basalt columns of Northern Ireland’s Giant’s Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Individually crafted and hand-painted in Ireland, this ornament celebrates Irish legend and natural beauty, featuringĀ Belleek’s signature shamrock.
According to legend, the columns are the remains of a causeway built by the giant Fionn mac Cumhaill (also known as Finn MacCool). Fionn built the causeway to reach and face his rival, the Scottish giant, Benandonner. When Fionn saw how large Benandonner was in the distance, he retreated home. Benandonner pursued Fionn, and on his arrival at Fionnās house, his wife had disguised him as their baby and told Benandonner that Fionn was out. On seeing the ābabyā and his large stature, Benandonner was alarmed at how large Fionn must be if his baby was already this large, and he retreated to Scotland, destroying the Causeway on his way back so that Fionn could not reach him. Some of the remnants of the causeway can also be found in Scotland at Fingalās Cave.
